Steve Mirsky Copywriter
Starting out in the mid 1990s as a technical writer working on contract with clients such as the U.S. Coast Guard and Hamilton Sundstrand, I took complex procedures written by engineers and distilled them into easy-to-understand user guides. Topics ranged from transcontinental vessel inspection to aircraft component maintenance.
Around the beginning of the millennium, (remember Y2k?) I began shifting my writing to more diverse topics such as food, wine, and travel. I entered this market at the pivotal point between print collapsing and the web gaining an ever greater share of the publishing world.
Today, in addition to blogging about vacation destinations, culinary curiousities, and cultural attractions on blogs like magazine.istopover.com, gastrotraveling.com, foodbuzz.com, I offer web writing for businesses here at Persuasive Type.
The effectiveness of the written word has changed. Contrary to popular opinion, people still read. In fact people are reading more now than any time in history but we’re doing it in a profoundly different way. We skim, picking and choosing what captivates us on a whim. If something doesn’t immediately grab our attention, we click elsewhere…and fast!
That’s where I come in. I write content made for web readers. Concise chunks of compelling text that work just as well on their own as strung together for the bigger story. Search engine optimized (SEO) with relevant keywords put you at the top of Google results pages.
So give me your story, your reams of un-web ready press releases and brochures. In return, I’ll give you a steady stream of content for months to share on your company’s blog, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media outlets. It’s as simple as that, the clearer and more targeted your online message, the more people will learn about you over the competition.
